We came to market as an Efficiency-as-a-Service (EaaS) provider in 2014 where we cut our teeth originating, managing, funding and maintaining energy projects for small to mid-sized C&I customers. Our software platform launched in 2020 and now provides utilities, program implementers, lenders, contractors, and end customers with the tools needed to find projects and deploy capital at scale. POSITION:
We are looking for a Director of Software Engineering to join our small team. The ideal candidate will be an owner-level thinker, leading the effort to understand new business requirements and to adapt and grow our software platform to meet them. This position will require a proven track record of secure software development and data security architecture.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- 10+ years in software engineering roles, with experience in both frontend and backend development. Experience in energy or utilities is a plus.
- Strong proficiency in one or more web development frameworks.
- Expertise in one or more frontend development frameworks.
- Strong proficiency with relational databases.
- Experience with AWS cloud processing and data architecture.
- Background in designing and developing secure and compliant software, preferably for enterprise financial, utility and/or government clients.
- Demonstrated ability to optimize near-term results while creating long-term sustainable success.
- Experience with data warehousing and analysis is a big plus.
- Successful experience with preparing, winning and delivering bids to large public sector or enterprise customers.
- Proven track record as top contributor to teams of various sizes, balancing management with deliverables.
- Experience growing a team and managing direct reports.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Develop and execute an overall technology product strategy that supports the company’s business objectives.
- Grow, cultivate, and manage a small team of engineers.
- Be an individual contributor: design, develop, and maintain our web application using our existing stack (Ruby on Rails, React, GraphQL, and PostgreSQL).
- Participate in code reviews and contribute to improving our development processes.
- Predict and tackle the security and compliance issues that come with serving large, regulated clients, like utilities and banks.
- Collaborate with the executive team to respond to RFPs.
Allumia is a remote-first company, but we do have an office in Seattle you could work at if desired. Authorization to work in the United States is required.
